ProMashtm
PilotBrewtm Software

As the ProMash software family grows, and with the success of 3 Com's Palm Pilot, Sausalito Brewing Co. is pleased to introduce the ProMashtm PilotBrewtm Brewing Utilities.

These PilotBrew utilities are NOT full fledged recipe formulation or brewing session applications. Instead, they represent a collection of useful stand-alone brewing applications that compliment full fledged brewing applications such as ProMash.. These applications fit nice and tightly on the Palm Pilot (small footprint) and free you from a desktop PC during brewing operations.

As an example of what might comprise a useful PilotBrew application, consider the first such application in the series, The Hydrometer Calculator. As it is often good brewing practice to stop all-grain runnings from the mash tun when specific gravity (SG) reaches 1.010, brewer's often take runnings and try to chill them down to the calibration temperature of the hydrometer (usually 60 degrees F). As this can take time, the brewer may accidentally allows the runnings to fall under 1.010. The Hydrometer Calculator lets you determine SG regardless of the temperature measured at. Simple enter 3 numbers (Calibration Temperature, Measured SG, and Current Temperature) and whala! the correct specific gravity is determined and displayed.

These utilities will be posted as they are made, and are completely free! No they won't expire! No they are not crippled! We are simply giving them away for comment, feedback and the joy of sharing! Happy Brewing!

MathLib
As many higher level math functions are needed for brewing calculations, all ProMash PilotBrew utilities use the MathLib.prc math library from Rick Huebner.

MathLib is a free shared library that can be used by any OS 2.0 Pilot program that needs IEEE 754 double precision math functions. It's distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License, and is freely available with full source code and documentation at the MathLib Information web page. It's not a part of the ProMash PilotBrew Utility program(s), and you're not paying anything for its use; a copy is simply included in this archive for your convenience.

You must download MathLib to use any of the PilotBrew brewing utilities and install it on your Palm Pilot before running any of the utilities.

HydroCalc
The Hydrometer Calculator

The Hydrometer Calculator Serves 3 purposes:

1) Determining SG of Runnings/Wort regardless of the temperature measured at. Simply enter 3 numbers (Hydrometer Calibration Temperature, Measured SG, and Current Temperature) and whala! the correct specific gravity is determined and displayed. Terrific for determining when to stop runnings from the mash tun and quickly determining the gravity of hot wort from the kettle.

2) Recording Mash/Wort Gravity readings during a brewing session.

3) Recording pH readings of Mash/Wort during a brewing session.

The Hydrometer Calculator allows up to 5 entries for readings at specific times during the brewing session. All data is persistent for analysis at a later time.
