Decoction mashing is finally a reality to ProMash! The decoction features are very unique in that a separate water/grain ratio is applied to the specific decoction pull (ie for thick or thin decoctions) for a more accurate determination of volumes pulled. Developed by A.J. deLange, John Palmer and Jeffrey Donovan for ProMash.

To see a complete tutorial for using the mash designer and an overview of the new decoction features click here, or for an advanced tutorial on the use of the new decoction functionality click here.

  2. Efficiency Locking!

The Grain bill may now be locked to the efficiency setting, much the same way that all ingredients can be locked to the batch size for automatic ingredient scaling. This makes it much easier to scale a circulated recipe to match your system's efficiency. To see how to use the Efficiency Scaling feature click here.

  3. Color Color Color! ProMash now has color swatches to show the beer color based on the Estimated SRM!

These color swatches are shown in the recipe's ingredients section, next to the SRM Color Field. They are also printed in printouts and HTML exports. Alpha blending can also be enabled and there is a Color Calibration Utility and A Color Spectrum Utility (for modifying the color tables). The resolution of the swatches is to 0.10 SRM, with a total range of 0 - 40 SRM.

  4. Mash Volumes are displayed on all Mash Schedule dialogs.

Now you can quickly and easily determine how much capacity your mash tun needs to be to accommodate any given mash. To see the volume number on the Mash Designer window click here

  5. JPG Export!

All charts (Mash Chart, Water Profile Chart, Hop Degrad Chart) can now be exported directly to JPG Files, either as stand-alone JPG images or as JPG images imbedded in HTML export files. To see some examples of the new JPG charts click here

  6. HTML Export of Recipes and Brewing Sessions!

ProMash now offers an easy to use HTML export feature, with several default themes and a full "theme" editor so users can modify the output to their liking. This will allow users to easilly upload ProMash recipes and Brewing Sessions to a website for easy viewing by others. JPG charts are also automatically created and the appropriate tags imbedded to view the JPG's within the HTML file.

To see some examples of the new HTML exports click here.

  7. Clipboard Export of Recipes and Brewing Sessions!

Copy a formatted recipe or a brewing session to the Windows clipboard and simply "paste" it to your favorite word processor!

  8. Hop Time Degradation Functionality and Chart Enhanced!

The Hop Time Degradation calculator now allows you to degrade hop alpha acid values up to 5 years out (previous versions only allowed for 1 year). To see the new hop degradation dialog using an extended time frame click here

  9. Decoction and Infusion Spike charting capability in Mash Graphs.

Now you can see the temperature of a water infusion or decoction pull within the Mash Charts. To see a chart with the new infusion/decoction spikes click here

  10. Default File Folders can now be specified by the user for every all ProMash file types.

While ProMash can be set to work as it previously did, by auto-saving the default location from were the last file operation occurred, the user may now turn this "atuto-saving" off and specify exact folders that will always be used for saving and loading defaults, for all ProMash file types. To see a the System Setting dialog where these folders are set click here.

  11. Window Position Saving.

Now you can enable ProMash to save the position of any ProMash dialog or window so that it will open in the same location previously saved to. You do this by enabling "Save and Use Window Positions" in the System Settings Dialog, Printer and Misc. options (click here for a screen shot of this settings dialog). From that point forward your window positions will be saved whenever you press "OK" to exit a dialog. The window position will be restored when it is re-opened.

  12. New Hop Formula (Generic) based on Ray Daniels Basic Hop Utilization table.

Bug Fixes:
  1. Within the complex mash scheduler (in a recipe or brewing session, not the stand-alone), grain amounts would be shown in accordance to what the system WATER amounts were set to (IE American or Metric), not the grain amount type. This has been fixed.

  2. When printing recipes or brewing sessions to text files, the name of the mash schedule did not print correctly. This has been fixed.

  3. If a user was in a brewing session and deleted a malt within the ingredients section, then exited the session without saving the changes, a crash may have occurred. This has been fixed.

  4. In Previous ProMash printouts, the default top margin of the printer setting was not being correctly used. This has been fixed. This also caused problems some user experienced with printing over-runs and missing sections.

  5. Previously, when you chose to view the Potential SG in %Yield, Fine Grind (default setting for pro-scale), there may have been an erronous warning message about using different efficicncy settings when creating a new brewing sessions and initially picking the recipe. This has been fixed.

  6. Misc. extremely minor bugs found by single users.
